Champions League Draw: Would it be an El-Clasico Final?
Having eliminated all the English teams, the race for the Champions League Title seems to be less vague. The fans from the ‘Stamford Bridge’ have since kept mute, returning to their worm holes during the group stages of the match. They were accompanied by Manchester City Citizens. Friends of the knight, Sir Alex Ferguson bowed out with him respectfully as they lost to Real Madrid. They didn’t return to England without the consolation of their long-time rivals, Arsenal, who although fought bravely, couldn’t find the one-goal needed to advance to the quarter finals of the Champions League.
It would therefore be unbiased, judging by the results, to say that the weak teams are out and the Champions stay. In a draw that was cast last Friday the following combinations were made.
Barcelona will be clashing with PSG in the quarter-final draw of the UEFA Champions League, while Arch-rivals Real Madrid will be looking to knock out Galatasaray. Bayern Munich are threatened from reaching the finals again by in-form Juventus. Their fierce rival Dortmund will be strongly opposed by a determined Malaga.
The favorites to win are Real Madrid and Barcelona if they both resist being knocked out of the semi-finals by themselves or the German teams. The fight for the Champions League Trophy looks like a battle between Spain and Germany. However, if both Spanish teams make it through to the finals, this would be the greatest Clasico in the history of football with the two best players in the world striving to win the crown.
No doubt that the Messi versus Ronaldo debate would threaten to overshadow the event, but such an occasion added with other superstars such as Xavi, Iniesta, Xabi Alonso and Ozil also on show – it could make for one of the greatest finals in Champions League history. Who would you give the Champions League Cup to?
